De confrontatie gebeurt niet in harde reality programma’s, maar onder begeleiding en met een verhaal. There are still appearing new variations in the genre. In January 2012 three new cooking formats were launched in which relatives act as cook.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The UK&lt;br /&gt;1. In &lt;em&gt;The Fabulous Baker Brothers&lt;/em&gt; (Channel4, 04-01-2012) brothers chef Henry &amp;amp; baker Tom Herbert cook together and also participate in a cooking competition against each other. In each episode they create a tasty recipe which is judged by different groups of people, e.g. sports players or students. They cook in Italian style.&lt;br /&gt;2. In &lt;em&gt;Hungry sailors&lt;/em&gt; (ITV1, 16-01-2012) dad Dick and son James Strawbridge sail along the South-coast of Great-Britain and meet regional farm owners, food producers and restaurant owners to exchange all sort of information. At the end they create together a meal out of local ingredients, served on their boat for the locals. Their cooking style is the Slow food style.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The USA&lt;br /&gt;3. In &lt;em&gt;Not my mama's meal&lt;/em&gt; (Cooking channel, 04-01-2012) son Bobby Deen takes his mother's classic recipes (of famous tv-chef Paula Deen) to change them into healthier low calories and low fat variations but still deliver on taste. His cooking style is the modern healthy way.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Previously relatives occasional appeared in cooking programs, but at the start of 2012 the ‘relative-trend’ finally breaks through. A short overview of occasional cooking formats in which relatives take part:&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;In the USA &lt;em&gt;Down Home With the Neelys&lt;/em&gt; (Food network, since 2009) is presented by the married couple Patrick and Gina Neely. They always discuss things but also whispering sweet things to each other. &lt;br /&gt;In Denmark son Harry at the age of 6 helped his dad Carsten Kyster (who is a famous chef) in the tv-program &lt;em&gt;Harry–med far I kokkenet&lt;/em&gt; (Harry with his dad in the kitchen, DR1, 2007) preparing recipes and visiting food producers. Harry wanted to become a professional chef like his father.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;In the UK married couple Monty en Sarah Don presented the cooking program &lt;em&gt;Fork to Fork&lt;/em&gt; already in 1999 (Channel4) from a country kitchen preparing healthy recipes in organic style. On the Dutch tv-market pubcaster TROS transmits &lt;i&gt;Ik vertrek&lt;/i&gt; since 2005. And on the German TV emigrants leave &lt;/span&gt;&lt;st1:country-region&gt;&lt;st1:place&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;Germany&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:country-region&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt; since 2007 in shows like &lt;i&gt;Goodbye Deutschland&lt;/i&gt; (VOX, 2007) &lt;i&gt;Die Auswanderer&lt;/i&gt; (K1, 2007) &lt;i&gt;Umzug in ein neues leben&lt;/i&gt; (RTL-T, 2008). &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;These emigration formats often have a negative atmosphere and dramatize the failure of the emigrants in their new environment. They aren’t well prepared, they haven’t anticipated on possible problems abroad and their language skills leave a lot to be desired. As a result there’s a lot of&amp;nbsp;miscommunication with&amp;nbsp;contractors,&amp;nbsp;the chats with the locals during the house warming&amp;nbsp;are terrible and&amp;nbsp;the application&amp;nbsp;for&amp;nbsp;various&amp;nbsp;permits&amp;nbsp;often&amp;nbsp;goes&amp;nbsp;wrong. For the viewer it doesn’t take long till you get tired of it. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;"&gt;There also are programs with a more positive approach. Maar de deelnemers kunnen natuurlijk ook worden begeleid door een professional om tot betere prestaties te komen in een coaching programma of laten we ze tegen elkaar strijden tot de beste overblijft in een talent real life show? He nee, laten we toch maar kiezen voor een licht informatief magazine (een tijdschrift op televisie). Wil je sponsormomenten in het programma zetten, denk dan goed na of de sponsor past bij het verhaal, of bij de persoon in het verhaal of in de verhaallijn. Maar dit is fahankelijk van de marketingdoelstelling van de sponsor (zie kopje merkplaatsing).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Verdana;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana;"&gt;De structuur van het format kan aantrekkelijk worden gemaakt door de onderdelen aansprekende titels te geven, zodat het voor de kijker elke week weer herkenbaar is waar ze in het programma zijn. Als de structuur is uitgewerkt in een moodboard of line-up dan kunnen we naar een omroep, producent en adverteerder. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; mso-layout-grid-align: none;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Verdana;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana;"&gt;Stap 4: Merkplaatsing&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; mso-layout-grid-align: none;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Verdana;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana;"&gt;Het is zaak om bij de uitwerking van het format zo goed mogelijk aan te sluiten bij de marketingdoelstelling van de sponsor. Als het doel van de sponsor is de merkherinnering te vergroten,&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;dan is het verstandig de merken in een verhaallijn te plaatsen en de merknaam van de sponsor vaak terug te laten komen in het programma. Wanneer de sponsor op basis van het programma een merk wil positioneren, zorg dan dat imago van programma en het imago van het merk zoveel mogelijk overeenkomen. Maar wees voorzichtig met al te veel herhaling. In dit tijdslot zendt RTL7 al geruime tijd boeiende reality series uit, zoals &lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt;Ice Road Truckers&lt;/i&gt;. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt;"&gt;De tunnelgravers van New York &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt;"&gt;werd in 2008 in de VS uitgezonden onder de titel &lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt;Sandhogs&lt;/i&gt; (History Channel). Toen we dat zagen, gespot bij onze tv-monitor, dachten we meteen aan de tunnelgravers van Nederland, zoals de Amsterdamse NoordZuidlijn. &lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt;"&gt;Nederland heeft veel ‘stoere beroepen’ in de weg- en waterbouw die interessant zijn om te volgen in reality series of docu-soaps. En misschien draagt dat ook bij tot wat meer begrip voor het zware werk aan de weg, in het water of onder de grond. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt;"&gt;In 2005 toonde RTL7 dit in &lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt;Nederland Onderweg. &lt;/i&gt;In deze door de overheid (Ministerie van Verkeer&amp;amp;Waterstaat) gesponsorde reality serie werden de mensen werkend aan de HSL-lijn en aan de sluizen van IJmuiden gevolgd. Dit is bij één Nederlands initiatief gebleven, terwijl in de VS de ‘stoere beroepen’ op televisie een trend zijn geworden vanaf 2008 met de start van &lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt;Ax Men&lt;/i&gt; op History Channel, gevolgd door &lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt;Sandhogs &lt;/i&gt;en op&lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt; &lt;/i&gt;Discovery Channel &lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt;Deadliest jobs in the World&lt;/i&gt; en op TLC &lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt;Heli Loggers&lt;/i&gt;. In the program Michael Sorrentino has a party animal-like image and is regularly involved in fights on TV. A&amp;amp;F argues that this does not fit the image of the brand. Some marketers will think ‘it should not get any crazier’, but actually it brings up ideas for a new marketing strategy.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-GB" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: x-small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana;"&gt;If I would work at a production company, I know what to do. Produce the most vulgar programme ever made and make sure&lt;b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"&gt; &lt;/b&gt;that the reality cast wear the most exclusive brands they can imagine. Air the programme as many times as possible and the money flows in. A win-win situation, the advertisers in turmoil and the program gets free publicity. The TV producer is no longer spending time on fundraising and revenues come in automatically, so fundraisers can be fired.
